SAFT is world specialist in the design and manufacture of high-tech batteries for industry. Boats Emergency systems for radar, communications, steering and navigation requires UPS systems. These systems always have the back-up of an auxiliary generator set with its associated engine starting battery. On board emergency lighting is also part of the emergency and security systems in the boat. Emergency & security Saft manufactures and markets a complete range of Ni-Cd, Ni-MH and lithium (Li-SOCl2, Li-SO2 and Li-MnO2 for non rechargeable needs and Li-ion for rechargeable needs) battery solutions. These batteries are specially designed to meet the energy needs of applications required by applications such as beacons, life jackets, life rafts and emergency and security systems including emergency lighting. Navigation All signaling systems, such as the lit buoy and lighthouses that guide maritime traffic along the coast, are crucial to shipping safety. With the introduction of many unmanned lighthouses and other marine warning systems, the use of photovoltaic solar and wind- powered generators has increased and large power sources may require switching systems. Equipment such as Buoys, which are often located in remote areas and in harsh environments, sometimes in very cold areas with periods without no sun, need autonomous energy that works over a long time within a large temperature range. Boats also use for their navigation various types of equipment such as GPS, which require autonomy, long life and high energy and the ability to withstand the marine environment. Oceanography Saft has developed a range of Ag-Zn, primary lithium and Li-ion cells for demanding applications in the hostile subsea environment, where safety and reliability are crucial to the success of scientific scientific and industrial missions. Saft has started development on medium to low rate applications (pure electric vehicles), with particular emphasis on. Oceanography research vehicles' need for multi-kWh capacity. Saft's UUV solutions are appropriate to this application. Saft also proposes non-rechargeable and rechargeable batteries for the other equipment equipment in the related infrastructure, such as emergency and security systems and UPS equipment. Water, oil & gas Industries Correct functioning of process control systems is vital and an industrial site's UPS system and auxiliary generator set with its associated engine starting require a battery which will ensure reliability at all times. In remote locations, solar and wind-powered generators may be employed and this can require switching and transmission systems. Both on-shore and off- shore sites involve UPS systems, engine starting and emergency and security systems as well as process control & data and information systems batteries.
