ELECTROCHLORINATOR
“Chloromar” electrochlorinator is developed by Naval Torreiro S.L. and La Corunna University. It generates Sodium Hypochlorite which prevents incrustations of algae, molluscs and crustaceans in the ship’s saltwater circuit. The hypochlorite is generated as it is consumed, by breaking up the salt molecule by electrical means. The operator can also regulate the concentration in accordance with the result. The Electrochlorinator is mounted in a bypass in the ships sea water system, where part of the water forms sodium hypochlorite, and is returned to the main stream. The decomposition of the sea water, by electrolysis, generates sodium hypochlorite when the sea water passes over the electrodes in the Electrochlorinator. Upon leaving the ship, the salt water will return to its natural state. Maintenance is restricted to replacement of electrodes every 4th year.
FRESH WATER GENERATOR
“Fontemar” fresh water generator, using the principle of sea water condensation. Heat source engine cooling water. Entire structure, incl heat exchanger, is made from AISI 316L 1 500 litres – 30 000 litres.
