Another type of part manufactured for naval is an inertia brake, reducing vibration. They are situated in a reduction system attached to the crankshaft vibration of a marine engine. 

In this case the piece has now reached 35 kg and is made by permanent mold and chemical molding, with a gross weight of 60 kg 

Such pieces have a complicated morphology and also a high added value. Not only that, but laborious process is therefore necessary, for example, machining is done in several stages and balanced. 

The required alloy AlSi7Mg this piece is, and then to manufacturing is applied T6 heat treatment.

TRANSMISSION RINGS

One of the parts that Cofundi is currently doing since 2010 is the ring of transmission used in the naval sector. These same parts are used in wind turbines. 

This part reaches 20kg, and has a considerable size, but despite this is done in permanent mold, giving a gross weight of 35 kg, and hence and requested for the mechanical characteristics. 

This ring was manufactured under inspections and audits of maritime GL, DNV, LRS, reflecting the quality with which the parts are delivered. 

It consists of the AlSi12 alloy, and does not require heat treatment.

SHAFT BRACKETS

Due to design and location, the shaft brackets in the Servogear controllable pitch propeller system causes minimum drag and resistance. They also ensure no cavitation and improved steering performance.

The brackets are of heavy-duty single leg design. They are cast in high tensile stainless steel and NiAlBz. Servogear shaft brackets are also designed with progressive strength. This means that the section modulus of the bracket leg is decreasing from the hull intersection to the bracket barrel. Should a severe grounding occur, the bracket would deform as a “J” – avoiding serious damages like cracks and leakages in the hull. This is an important safety feature. Normally, the shaft brackets can be straightened easily – without the need for replacements.
