DRIVES
QUADRO DRIVE® Liquid cooled four quadrant drive The QUADRO DRIVE® frequency converter from Norwegian Electric Systems is the core of our electric propulsion system. Frequency drives developed especially for marine applications Power rating up to 5.000kW per drive Liquid cooled, fast response, four quadrant drive and stable performance The QUADRO DRIVE® frequency converter is specially designed for ship installations and sets the standard of next generation propulsion converters. QUADRO DRIVE® requires no large transformer, making installation much cheaper and simpler. The Active Rectifier yields the possibility of regenerating the energy from the propeller and shaft back to the grid. The power factor is always unity, so the grid`s capability is fully utilized. The result is a flexible and dynamic propulsion system, focusing on a high performance energy chain from the diesel motor to the propeller`s thurst. A modular based system is the cornerstone of the QUADRO DRIVE® frequency converter. This allows for interchangeable parts and an option of derating the drive if one module so the vessel can avoid off-hire time. TOTAL HARMONIC DISTORTION (THD) Total Harmonic Distortion is, based on our already delivered main switchboards, measured to be between 1,2% and 1,7%, which means an average on 1,5%. TWIN IN - SINGLE OUT The arrangement of the electric propulsion system features a high level of reliability since each electric motor is supplied through its own Quadro Drive frequency converter and its associated control system. The propulsion system`s reduncdancy and the reliability of our converters improve safety. Reduntant main propulsion drives provide adequate power for the ship to operate if a malfunction occurs.

MONITORING EQUIPMENT
Fuel consumption represents a major cost in the marine industry. Monitoring and collecting accurate fuel consumption data for a vessel or fleet is key to identifying inefficiencies and reducing overall fuel consumption. Ship Performance Monitor (SPM) is a highly adaptable monitoring software, designed to help manage and improve the ship and fleet efficiencies. An adaptable reporting system providing data from all monitored ship sub-systems. SPM supports the implementation of Ship Energy Efficiency Monitoring Plan (SEEMP). - SPM supports the implementation of Ship Energy Efficiency Monitoring Plan (SEEMP). - SPM accumulate power consumption for all major consumers on-board. Fuel flow is accumulated with flowmeters. To accumulate the fuel flow, accurate flow meters are preferred. If flow meters are inaccurate or nonexistent, SPM may calculate the fuel flow from the engine load. - Energy efficiency is linked to the ship’s fuel consumption and the ships emissions. Maritime transport is the most energy efficient in means of transporting goods per ton-mile. At the same time shipping emission is increasing rapidly. SPM is monitoring ship and fleet performance, enabling the operators to measure fuel consumption and emission over time.

SAFETY SYSTEMS
Black Out Safety System - A Guardian Angel A SYSTEM WHICH PREVENTS A SINGLE ELECTRICAL FAULT RESULTING IN A SHIP LOSING IT`S PROPULSION POWER Typical situations where the B.O.S.S.® system (Black Out Safety System) saves the ship from a black-out is over/under-speed on a diesel genset, a faulty voltage regulator, an overload condition and much more. The system analyzes and reacts accordingly, preventing a development into black-out. The staff on the bridge will receive a warning notification at the same time. Any numbers of generators can be operated in parallell up to full power without risk of black-outs or total loss of propulsion. The response time, from the moment of detecting a critical situation until the propulsion system performs load adaption, can be measured in miliseconds.
SWITCHBOARDS
NES DC Switchboard Quadro Master (QM) is the heart of the installation on all NES DC power system, and the introduction to a converter-based DC power system in marine application is relative new in the market. NES MSB 1000V DC – Marine Switchboard is a DC Power Distribution Switchboard specially designed for marine applications. The switchboard is based on a common DC-bus system where power is fed to/from switchboard through power modules. The switchboard system can consist of one or several separate DC switchboards, depending on requirements for redundancy. The NES MSB 1000V DC-Marine Switchboard can include (depending of the power system architecture) converters for motor, generator, battery, microgrid, bus tie, shaft generator etc. Each outgoing/incoming supplier also includes protective devices, breakers, filters/chokes, control components, needed instrumentation and liquid cooling. The Quadro Master is a modular-based system which forms a complete switchboard suitable for a modern vessels. Depending on the characteristics of the vessel, the Quadro Master can either utilize both AC and DC elements in the same switchboard. If there is a need for variable speed on the diesel engines, the installation can be delivered as a pure DC-system. The Quadro Master can be built using several different subsystems that together forms a multi-drive with a common DC-bus bar and AC switchboard in one cabinet. However, normally the AC switchboard is delivered as a separate component. The DC switchboard consists of liquid cooled converters, piping for cooling inside the switchboard and external cooling pumps with a heat exchanger. Available control modules in the Quadro Master: - QG – Generator controller - QD – Motor controller - QB – Battery controller and Shore charger controller - QC – Load and auxiliary controller The Quadro Master can consist of one or more of each of these controllers. At the heart of each subsystem, there are one or more power modules running different types of control applications. All controllers can be operated locally on the specific panel within the Quadro Master via local pushbuttons and HMI panel. But normal control is remotely from the PMS or Thruster control etc. All controllers have a bus interface towards the IAS for control, monitoring and alarm.
